Siva returns

These are times for the Divine Masculine energies to be honoured and acknowledged. And this is Siva, the dance, the dancing body and the dancing cosmos.

In these times, the energies hold the return of Siva, the divinity of the masculine mind and the power to manifest and embody our expansive consciousness in the world. We live in times of intense mental energies. At one level there is deep division, chaos, fear and uncertainty. The mind grasps for control and reverts to increasing contraction as it flounders amidst reality. For many centuries, the mind has beguiled itself with its power over Reality. Now, the truth that Reality is far greater than the mind’s limited story of control begins to unravel.

This unraveling is the expansiveness of Siva. There is no duality of good and evil in the Goddess tradition—simply movement that invites embodiment, not capture through thought. Siva is the Goddess’s passionate lover. Her dance becomes body in His dance. In Natya Sastra, the ancient text on Indian dance, it is Siva that gifts the Goddess’s dance to the world so that we can hold their union in our own consciousness.

Siva is one of my enduring deities. As a dancer, I have held His consciousness in my body all my life. I have invoked Him in countless performances all over the world. And I have taught countless courses about Siva. Like all these deities, He is infinite in His cosmos and there is never an end to His revelations.

In these times, I feel His dance surging again. Last night, I danced Siva, the union of Siva and Devi (the Goddess), during the solar eclipse. And I felt the dance unite with the dance of the cosmos. I sensed a reassurance that this union of Siva and Devi holds the movement of nonduality and unity in a moment in our history when our minds are tearing us apart.

I invite you to dance Siva in these times—the beautiful, passionate and intense energy of the mind madly in love with the Divine Feminine.
