Prayer to Goddess Earth-A New Year gift (video)

This is my New Year gift to all of you—an invocation to our source and our ending—Goddess Earth. I invite you to open 2022 with a return to our Earth body, which is the most intimate manifestation of the Divine in our lives.

We all sense we are at a crossroads in our relationship with Earth and Nature. Many of us sense our increasing disconnection with Nature. We know that this has material impacts on us in terms of the sustainability of our civilization.

There is a deeper disconnection here which is not often touched upon as an issue of urgency—this is the disconnection with that aspect of our Consciousness which is a continuum with Nature/Earth. The experience of this continuum is essentially what makes us “human” by revealing the truth about our belonging firstly and most essentially to Nature and Life as manifested by Earth/Nature.

The ancient traditions would say that our external disorder and chaos arise from the violence of this disconnection to our Earth bodies. And that we cannot “solve” this only through external actions because our inner disorder will continue to manifest as disorderly actions in the world.

Even in ancient times, sophisticated embodied encounters with Nature were central to revealing how our bodies carry the Consciousness of the cosmos, Earth and Nature within us. This is not a story, imagination or visualization, but a visceral and sensory experience. At the heart of this experience is “teaching”—we don’t need to manage Nature, She will guide us towards actions that are harmonious with Her flow.

In this video I share a beautiful Prayer to Goddess Earth. This is a traditional prayer which is used to open and close dance invocations. This sets the nature of the ancient dancing body as that which holds Earth Consciousness—that is the Kshetra or Body that is simply the field for the manifestation of Goddess/Nature. In such an embodied consciousness, there is no archetype of human and other. There is simply Life that flows through all manifestation and of which we are a continuum in every possible way.

When we sense this flow, we at once sense our place in this domain of Earth and our service towards the harmony of Earth and all of Her life. This is our Earth body which holds no hierarchy and realizes that the harmony of the whole and our most intimate harmony is one and the same thing.

I hope you will enjoy this practice and that it will open 2022 for you with a connection to Earth that is never denied and is ever open and waiting for us to turn towards Her.
